My first trade on Binance P2P happened close to midnight, and I remember hesitating with my cursor over the confirm button for a full minute. Binance P2P works as a marketplace connecting buyers and sellers directly, but every order sits inside an escrow system: the moment a seller posts an offer and a buyer accepts, the crypto asset gets locked by Binance until both sides complete their part of the deal. Identity verification through KYC sits behind every account, so nobody on the platform is truly anonymous, and the built in chat function keeps a timestamped record of everything said, which becomes evidence if a dispute ever needs Binance's team to step in and decide the outcome.

Before sending any payment or releasing any asset, I now open the counterparty's profile and read past the star rating. Account age, number of completed orders, and completion rate tell a more honest story than a five star badge alone. A profile created days ago with zero trade history asking to handle a large order is a pattern I now treat with caution rather than excitement. I also stopped trusting screenshots sent through chat as proof of payment, since images get edited easily. My rule is simple: check my own bank app or wallet directly, confirm the exact amount and sender name match the order, and only then release the crypto asset.

I also watch for partial payments, where a buyer sends less than the agreed amount and asks me to release the full order anyway, promising to send the rest afterward. That promise rarely gets kept once the crypto asset is gone, so I wait for the complete amount every time before doing anything on my end.

Small habits add up. I note the order number, the time, and the counterparty name for every trade I complete, just in case a question comes up weeks later. When something feels inconsistent, reaching out to Binance support directly beats guessing on my own.
