What if Ethereum’s biggest neutrality problem isn’t privacy but the fact that everything is visible?

The more I think about it, the more uncomfortable radical transparency becomes.

A public ledger is excellent for verification. But when every transaction, wallet interaction, and financial relationship can be observed, that visibility becomes useful to far more than users.

Validators can see it.
Analytics firms can map it.
Intermediaries can act on it.
Governments can pressure around it.
And markets can monetize it.

That creates a problem Ethereum rarely discusses clearly

When infrastructure can see everything, how long can it remain neutral?

The issue isn’t that regulators, investigators, or compliance systems should be blind.

The issue is whether everyone else needs to be exposed by default just so legitimate verification is possible.

I think the better direction is selective disclosure.

Prove that a transaction meets a requirement without revealing your entire financial history.

Prove eligibility without publishing unnecessary identity data.

Prove compliance without turning the blockchain into a permanent surveillance layer.

That is where zero-knowledge proofs and Privacy-preserving credentials become important.

Not because privacy means hiding everything.

Because good infrastructure should reveal what needs to be verified not everything that happens to be observable.

If Ethereum wants to preserve credible neutrality at scale, privacy cannot remain a small feature sitting on the edges.

It has to become part of the architecture.
