In late 2024, I talked to a product guy at a logistics company. He said the company had a lot of valuable which routes often get congested, which time slots drivers are likely to be late, which areas tend to have failed deliveries. But when I asked if they would let an AI company train on that data, he immediately shook his head.

“Once we hand it over, how do we know how they use it?”

That line made me look at @OpenLedger from a different angle.

At first, whenever I heard “AI blockchain,” I was too lazy to dig in. In crypto, any project that adds the word AI now sounds like a broken rice shop rebranding itself as “AI Meal” and charging 20% more. But the deeper I looked, the more I realized OpenLedger is not just telling a story about selling data.

They are trying to build an “electric meter” for data.

Data does not always have to be sold outright. It can be used, measured, and monetized based on its actual influence. Ethereum verifies transactions. Bittensor leans more toward compute and model networks. OpenLedger goes after a different question: which data actually helps AI produce valuable outputs?

That is Proof of Attribution.

It sounds technical, but the idea is very real. Many companies are afraid to give data to AI because it feels like lending someone a car with no meter. You do not know how far they drive, where they go, or how much money they make from it.

With OpenLedger, if a logistics dataset helps a model optimize delivery routes, reduce delays, or predict risky areas, that contribution can be recorded and rewarded through $OPEN.

So the real users of OpenLedger may not only be crypto traders.

They may be companies with valuable data that are afraid of being used and forgotten.

Still, the weakness is clear: if influence measurement is not transparent, data contributors will not trust it. If quality control is weak, junk data will pretend to be valuable data.

At that point, OpenLedger is no longer an electric meter for data.

It becomes a cash register with the numbers rigged.
