Everywhere you go there’s the same pattern: the government promising progress while protecting only its own. They celebrate glossy “green” projects in photo ops, but when young Ethiopians try to build something — trade, innovate, take risks — the state’s first instinct is control: laws used as a club, accounts frozen, opportunity strangled.

This is the central problem: a leadership that sees money, not the future. While other countries embrace innovation and create legal paths for new economies, our leaders punish the people who try to lift themselves. If the state uses power to benefit the few and to crush anyone outside the inner circle, development becomes a slogan, not a reality.

We deserve a country that invests in education, digital jobs, and fair rules — not one that chooses short-term image projects over long-term opportunity. Ethiopia can grow. But it will only happen when our institutions protect entrepreneurs, not hunt them.
