#ethereumopensglamsterdamearlytestnet Ethereum is testing its biggest upgrade since The Merge. And the scary part isn't the 10,000 TPS target. 👀 Ethereum just opened Platåberget, an early public testnet for Glamsterdam. The fork is scheduled for Aug. 20, before the upgrade moves through Sepolia and Hoodi ahead of a potential mainnet launch in H2 2026. The numbers are getting serious: → ~50,000 validators testing → 200M gas/block as a long-term target → ~10,000 TPS theoretical throughput → Smart-contract limit: 24 KiB → 64 KiB Why does this matter? Glamsterdam introduces ePBS and Block-Level Access Lists (BALs), two upgrades designed to change how Ethereum builds blocks and processes state. BALs could enable more parallel execution. ePBS could reduce reliance on external relays. But here's the hidden risk: More speed also means more complexity. ePBS still faces a known “free-option” design risk, while the 200M gas target won't arrive overnight. Gas limits are expected to rise in stages, and the mainnet timeline can still move. So here's the plot twist: The early public testnet isn't proof that Glamsterdam is ready. It's proof that Ethereum knows how much can go wrong before it is. Square Insight: Ethereum's next scaling leap won't be measured by TPS alone. It will be measured by whether Ethereum can scale without making the network less reliable or more centralized.
