How to Identify Scammers Impersonating Binance on Telegram

How to Identify Scammers Impersonating Binance on Telegram

2018-02-23 09:07
Please note that Binance Customer Service representatives will never contact you via private Telegram messages. While our Telegram communities are open for discussion, they should never be used for seeking customer support. Please also note that there are no Binance CS representatives in any of the official Telegram Binance communities.
Anyone claiming to be an official Binance Customer Service representative on Telegram is a scammer. If you need to contact Binance Customer Support, please use the Live Chat function on the official Binance website.
Below you’ll find examples of common scams on Telegram.
1. Fake lotteries and giveaways
Scammers may pretend to be from the Binance Finance team and ask you to send funds to an unknown wallet address as part of a lottery or giveaway. Never send funds to any unknown address. Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed once confirmed. You might not be able to recover your funds.

2. Fake P2P trading
Scammers may impersonate Binance staff and ask you to trade with them directly via P2P trading. For example, they may ask you to send funds to an unknown wallet address as the Binance website is “not working properly”. However, after you make the transfer, you won’t be able to contact them and your funds may not be recovered.

3. Impersonating official Telegram handles
Scammers may impersonate official Binance Telegram handles or pretend to be persons you know. For example, they may mix upper and lowercase letters in their usernames to make them look extremely similar to the genuine ones.
Always verify the identity of the other party you are talking to before sharing any personal information. Binance Customer Service representatives will never contact you via Telegram private messages. If you wish to speak to a Binance CS representative, please use the Live Chat function on the official Binance website.
4. Liquidity mining scams
Scammers may contact you on Telegram offering profitable liquidity mining opportunities. Typically, they will direct you to a website with fake profit data to convince you to invest. Once you connect your wallet or transfer funds to the website’s wallet, scammers will drain your assets from your account.
