Mastercard just added SoFiUSD (a dollar-backed stablecoin) as a settlement option on its network. That means card transactions could start settling in stablecoin instead of traditional fiat.

It’s backed 1:1 by cash and regulated, and now potentially allows 24/7 settlement — no banking hours, no delays.

If this actually scales, we’re looking at:

• Faster global payments
• Stablecoin-powered card programs
• Real bridge between TradFi & crypto

Mastercard stock even ticked up after the news 📈

Is this the beginning of stablecoins going fully mainstream in payments?
