Binance France will permanently close accounts tied to its French legal entity on December 31, 2026, following its failure to obtain authorization under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework.

The exchange has already suspended fiat and cryptocurrency deposits for affected accounts. The closure follows Binance France missing the June 30 deadline to secure the required MiCA authorization.

The move affects accounts held with the French entity and does not mean Binance is shutting down its entire global platform or every French user’s account.

For users still holding assets, however, the timeline is becoming increasingly important.

Binance Adds Fees Before Account Closure

Binance France will begin charging management fees from November 29 on accounts that continue to hold assets.

The fee will be 0.025% of the account balance per month, subject to a minimum charge of 10 USDC. The measure appears designed to encourage users to withdraw their assets before the final closure date.

The fees will be deducted directly from available USDC balances. If there is not enough USDC, Binance can use other cryptocurrencies held in the account to cover the charge.

Binance has also outlined scheduled withdrawals, with an initial withdrawal expected within three days of November 29, followed by another withdrawal after December 24.

What Happens to Remaining Crypto?

Users who fail to withdraw their assets before December 31 could see their remaining cryptocurrencies handled under Binance’s Terms of Service.

Depending on the circumstances, the assets may be converted, transferred or otherwise dealt with after the account closure. This makes the December 31 deadline more than just an administrative cutoff for affected customers.

For Binance France users, the immediate priority is clear, withdraw eligible assets before the account closure process begins, rather than risk additional fees or the automatic handling of remaining funds.
