An Ethereum L2 just died — and honestly, that might be the most bullish thing to happen to ETH this week.

While America votes today and ETF money keeps walking out the door, Ethereum's Layer 2 world just had its first real cull. And culls are how ecosystems get stronger.

Lisk Chain shut down on 2 November after 10 years in crypto, pivoting to an enterprise finance platform. Its Portal and Bridge are closed, ~5.2M unclaimed LSK will be burned, and stranded-asset claims open in January 2027 — with no recovery guarantee. A chain that couldn't compete just exited instead of lingering as zombie TVL.

Now look at who's left standing.

Arbitrum crossed $1.1B in tokenized funds, opened a Stablecoin Growth Program (2M ARB pool), and its Security Council froze 8,425 ETH + 74.56M ARB tied to the Binance exploit address. Base holds roughly $5.9B in DeFi TVL. That's what a shakeout looks like: the weak die, the strong consolidate. Check $ARB's chart against this — the L2 winners are pulling away in real time.

And yet the price doesn't care yet. $ETH trades around $2,250 today, down roughly 1.5% in 24 hours, with Fear & Greed at 26. US spot ETH ETFs bled $139.7M more on 2 November — day six of outflows, capping a record $1.61B October exit. BlackRock's ETHA alone accounted for about $138M of Monday's outflow.

Devcon 8 opened today in Mumbai; tomorrow's roundtable debates EIP-8363, a proposal to burn part of validator rewards as staked share grows. Discussion only — nothing confirmed. But Ethereum is now debating how to make ETH scarcer while its L2s fight for survival.

The levels are brutally clear. Support: $2,209, with $2,200 the line that must hold. Overhead: $2,271, then $2,307, then the real ceiling — the $2,315–$2,360 cluster. ETH has sat below its 200-day average since 26 October. A daily close above $2,315 changes the conversation; below $2,209, the late-October lows return. Watch those two lines on $ETH's chart — that's where this week gets decided.

The ratio agrees. $BTC is eating ETH's lunch: ETH/BTC near 0.029, below 0.03 and near a three-month low. Midterm Novembers have been rough for ETH — -42.5% in 2018, -17.6% in 2022 — though 2022 was the FTX month.

Counterweight: BitMine added 8,573 ETH, taking its stash to 6,060,506 ETH — nearly 5% of supply, over 5.2M of it staked. Tom Lee called ETH's muted post-hack reaction "very constructive." Someone with a very long horizon is buying what ETF traders are selling.

Don't confuse a shakeout with a collapse. Dead L2s, ETF exits, election-day fear: noise. Concentrated L2 strength, a Devcon supply debate, a near-5% holder accumulating: signal. Watch $2,209 below and $2,315 above. The break, when it comes, tends to be fast.
