❗ New analyst report on the issue of exposed public keys in the Bitcoin network:

Over 6.26 million BTC (approximately 31.2% of the total circulating supply) are currently held under public keys that are openly visible in the blockchain. This metric continues to grow faster than the issuance of new coins.

As soon as a public key becomes visible in the ledger (for instance, after an outgoing transaction is made from an older address), it theoretically becomes vulnerable to future attacks utilizing quantum computers or advanced artificial intelligence algorithms capable of eventually deriving the private key.

Trading platforms hold 1.79 million BTC in exposed-key addresses. Coinbase has roughly 10% of its stored assets exposed, Binance has 83%, and certain platforms (like Robinhood or Revolut) reach 99–100%. Among major institutional players, Fidelity stands out with only 2% of its holdings in this visible zone.

While no immediate threat of a hack or confirmed quantum attacks on the network has been recorded yet, experts (including Ethereum Foundation researchers) urge the industry to take cybersecurity more seriously and proactively prepare infrastructure for a transition to new cryptographic standards before the technological race in AI and quantum computing poses a real danger to a third of the primary cryptocurrency's supply.
