The ETFs just flipped Satoshi.
US spot Bitcoin ETFs turned 1,000 days old this week, and the twelve funds now hold a combined ~1.293 million BTC, worth roughly $107 billion at current prices. Satoshi Nakamoto's estimated stack is nearly 1.1 million coins. That makes the ETF complex the single largest known Bitcoin holder in existence.
BlackRock's IBIT is most of the story on its own: 806,037 BTC, 62.3% of all ETF-held coins and 3.84% of Bitcoin's entire 21 million supply, per BiTBO data. Fidelity's FBTC (181,890 BTC) and Grayscale's GBTC (126,585 BTC) make up most of the rest. And the category is consolidating, not just growing: Hashdex's DEFI shut down in September.
The interesting part is the timing. This milestone arrived in a week when ETF paper flows turned cautious and the tape chopped sideways. The largest holder in Bitcoin history was built by patient accumulation, not hot money.
A decade ago the debate was whether institutions would ever touch Bitcoin. They didn't just touch it. They became its biggest owner. Did Satoshi ever picture 1.3 million coins sitting inside twelve ticker symbols?
