Ethereum shipped an upgrade yesterday. The price answered with -5%. 🤔
On Oct 6 at 13:53 UTC, Glamsterdam went live on the Sepolia testnet. Headliners: ePBS (EIP-7732), which splits block proposers from block builders inside the protocol, plus block-level access lists. Per ethereum.org, it widens the window to spread block data from ~2s to ~9s, the groundwork for much higher L1 throughput and more blobs for L2s.
The market today (Binance, ~14:10 Moscow time):
• $ETH ~$2,579, -5% in 24h, low $2,565
• ETH/BTC ~0.0308, ETH weaker than $BTC again
• Spot ETH ETFs: 6 sessions of outflows, ~$408M total (SoSoValue)
• Funding negative: shorts are paying longs
What's next:
• Oct 8: developers' go/no-go call for the next testnet
• ~Oct 27: Hoodi testnet (tentative)
• Mainnet: no official date yet. Some analysts estimate early December, but it's an estimate, not an announcement.
Upgrades take months to price in, ETF flows hit today. Which one wins by December?
Bullish on the tech, or bearish on the flows? 👇
Not financial advice.
