For more than a year, the crypto narrative was simple:
Trump wins → crypto-friendly SEC → CLARITY Act → regulatory certainty → altcoin ETFs → institutional money → crypto boom.
But now the story is getting messier.
The CLARITY Act has stalled in the Senate. More than 90 crypto ETF applications are sitting in limbo as the SEC’s operations were hit by the federal funding lapse. And with Democrats currently leading the national midterm environment, there is growing uncertainty over what Washington will look like after November.
Trump has unquestionably moved crypto policy forward. But moving crypto policy forward is not the same as delivering everything the market priced in.
And that leaves retail with an uncomfortable question:
Did we mistake political promises for guaranteed returns?
Maybe nobody “used” retail as exit liquidity.
But if you bought the Trump crypto narrative at the top, you may now be discovering that Washington can change the rules, delay the rules and fight over the rules long after the market has already priced in the victory.
