Cerebras just became one of the biggest stories in AI hardware. 👀
Shares fell nearly 20% this week to $166.43, their lowest level since the May IPO.
The trigger? A SemiAnalysis report said OpenAI could use Nvidia GPUs instead of Cerebras hardware for the “Ultrafast” mode of GPT-6.1 Sol.
But there’s another factor traders should know:
🔓 Around 19.4M shares, roughly 8% of outstanding shares, became eligible for trading after IPO lockups expired — adding extra supply pressure.
At the same time, Cerebras still has a significant OpenAI relationship, including a previously announced 750MW computing deal.
That makes the bigger question:
Is this just a temporary repricing, or is Nvidia strengthening its position in AI inference?
For crypto, I’m watching whether this changes sentiment toward decentralized AI and compute projects, including $WLD.
The AI infrastructure race is getting more competitive.
