ETHEREUM NEWS: METAMASK EXITS AFFECTED VALIDATORS AFTER SECURITY INCIDENT

MetaMask has disclosed a security incident affecting part of its infrastructure and has begun exiting affected Ethereum validators as a precaution.

MetaMask said it has identified no immediate threat to MetaMask wallets and is working with external security partners while investigating the incident.

Reports indicate that a small amount of validator reward payments may have been diverted, while a much larger group of validators is being exited as a precautionary security measure.

Lido has said the affected validators are expected to complete the exit process by October 7, although returning the ETH to active staking could take significantly longer because of Ethereum's validator entry queue.

The incident is drawing attention to infrastructure security across the Ethereum staking ecosystem while MetaMask continues its investigation.
