The latest Q3 2026 data points to a sharp change in Bitcoin ownership patterns.

Individual and unidentified holders added more than 107,000 $BTC during the quarter, reversing roughly 140,000 BTC of net selling across Q1 and Q2.

River's data, which tracks holder categories over several years, puts the current quarter among the fastest retail accumulation periods in its dataset.

One detail stands out: wallets holding 100 to 1,000 BTC, often referred to as "dolphin" wallets, accumulated more than 113,000 BTC since mid-July.

That's over $9 billion worth of Bitcoin, with more BTC moving into individual and mid-sized wallets after months of selling earlier in 2026.
