President Donald Trump has renewed his pressure on the Federal Reserve, saying U.S. interest rates should be 1% or even lower.
The comments came after the Fed raised its benchmark rate by 25 bps to 3.75%–4%, with Fed Chair Kevin Warsh supporting the move.
Trump argued that the U.S. has the strongest credit in the world and should therefore have much lower borrowing costs.
He also criticized the wider Fed board, describing it as “very hostile” and “very political.”
💡 For crypto traders, the rate-policy debate remains important. Any major shift in expectations for future Fed cuts or hikes can affect liquidity and risk assets, including Bitcoin and altcoins.
