Meta's Facebook and Instagram briefly experienced a service outage in the United States. According to Sina Finance, outage-monitoring platforms recorded more than 17,000 Facebook reports and over 5,000 Instagram reports at the peak, before both quickly fell and services largely recovered.
The reports mainly came from U.S. users, indicating the two platforms experienced disruptions around the same time. Facebook and Instagram share some Meta account, advertising, and backend infrastructure, and simultaneous outages often cause reports to surge in a short period.
The outage was short-lived. After reaching their highs, the number of reports for both services declined sharply, suggesting most users regained access. Meta had not disclosed the specific cause of the outage or the number of accounts actually affected when services were largely restored.
