Gold Has Another Job 🥇

I've always looked at gold as the asset you hold precisely because you don't need it to do much.

That assumption gets more interesting once the gold is tokenized.

$XAUt gives you the underlying exposure in an onchain format. Theoriq Gold Vault then asks what happens if that same collateral can participate in carefully selected lending, term-yield and relative-value strategies without turning the portfolio into a directional crypto trade.

The part I like is where the return goes.

Realized yield is rotated back into gold exposure, so the objective isn't to maximize some flashy USD APY. It's to increase the position in gold terms.

The latest reported 30-day APY was 4.3% as of August 7, while the vault says it has avoided principal loss through the major volatility events it has faced since launch.

That's a different proposition from simply wrapping an asset and putting it onchain.

$PAXG helped prove that digital ownership of physical gold has demand too.

The next question is whether tokenized gold can become useful collateral without losing the reason investors wanted gold in the first place.

That's the category shift I'm watching.
