🔥 CPI Could Shake Up Markets This Week! Hike or Hold?
Everyone seems focused on the CPI number itself, but I am more interested in what the Fed does with it.
A hotter-than-expected print could reinforce the higher-for-longer narrative and put pressure on risk-on assets. A cooler number could do the opposite, easing rate fears and giving equities and crypto some breathing room.
But CPI is NOT the whole story! The labor market matters too. If jobs stay resilient while inflation remains sticky, the Fed has less reason to ease up.
Here is how I am looking at it:
🔥 Hot CPI: Rate-hike expectations rise → bearish pressure on risk-on assets, potentially bullish for the dollar.
❄️ Cool CPI: Rate pressure eases → potentially bullish for stocks, crypto and gold.
🎯 In-line CPI: This is where things could get messy! I would NOT rush the first move. I would rather see how yields and rate expectations react before picking a side.
CPI might not give us every answer, but it could tell us a lot about where the next big market move is coming from.
