NASA is seeking Starlink on one of its high-altitude airborne sensor platforms

NASA Langley is seeking a Starlink Aviation Performance Kit capable of maintaining high-speed connectivity at 50,000+ feet

The requirements include:
• 135–310 Mbps download
• 20–44 Mbps upload
• Latency below 99 ms
• Operation at 50,000 feet or higher
• Compatibility with FAA-approved Gulfstream installations

The goal is to live-stream high-resolution imagery from research flights directly back to teams on the ground

That means scientists can receive and analyze data while the aircraft is still in the sky instead of waiting for the mission to end

Starlink is now being pulled into another seriously demanding use case:
real-time scientific data from 50,000+ feet
