Desks were short into it. Then ETF turnover tripled - that is not squeeze money.

Bitcoin and ether ETFs took in $2.6B net in the week to Aug 22, the strongest week since October 2025 (The Block, SoSoValue data). BTC funds $1.9B, ETH funds $697.2M. The louder number is turnover: BTC ETF volume went from $6.9B to $22.1B, ETH from $1.9B to $6.9B. Both roughly tripled.

A squeeze explains a fast move - over $4.3B of shorts were liquidated from Aug 19 (CryptoSlate). It does not explain regulated fund volume tripling. That is allocation, and it reopens Monday.

Ether led the tape: $ETH ran ~33% from its Aug 18 close to Friday's high against ~23% for $BTC, with $SOL alongside (Binance spot).

Squeeze exhaustion or allocation cycle - which does Monday's ETF print settle?
