The really important concept: “crypto migration”
This is where you Imagine:
Today
Private key → ECC → Digital signature → Blockchain
Eventually:
Future
Private key → PQC algorithm → Quantum-resistant signature → Blockchain
But during the transition we may see:
Hybrid security
Private key → ECC signature + PQC signature → Blockchain
This could provide protection from both traditional attacks and quantum attacks while the ecosystem transitions.
1.What happens to your Bitcoin or #ETH?
The biggest issue isn't necessarily that quantum computers will suddenly destroy crypto.
The bigger issue is migration.
Users may eventually need to move assets from:
old cryptographic addresses
to
quantum-resistant addresses.
That means wallets, exchanges, validators, developers and ordinary users must coordinate.
Ethereum's research specifically identifies migrating existing accounts as one of the difficult parts of the problem
