$SUI's trading volume just jumped 90% to $808M — but $2.91M of that came from short positions getting liquidated, not fresh buying.

The bull case: on Aug 9, Sui integrated NIST-certified quantum-resistant protocols into the network — a genuinely forward-looking security upgrade most chains haven't touched yet. Separately, SUI Group Holdings disclosed a treasury of 108.7M SUI, with substantially all of it staked at an estimated 1.8% yield — real corporate conviction, not a trading position.

The bear case: the 24-hour volume spike ($3.13M in derivatives liquidations, ~90% from shorts) is a squeeze signature, not accumulation. Price is holding near $0.67-0.68 support, but by the market's own read, the quantum-resistance roadmap "has not yet translated to stronger SUI demand" — the upgrade is real, the buying interest behind it isn't showing up yet.

Our read: this is a security-infrastructure story ahead of its price story. Falsifiable — if SUI holds $0.67 support and volume normalizes with steady accumulation over the next week, the upgrade is starting to matter to holders. If price breaks that support once the short squeeze fades, the quantum-security news was priced as noise, not substance.

Not financial advice. DYOR.
