South Korea’s Ministry of Economy and Finance will test blockchain-based deposit tokens for government spending in the fourth quarter under a 2026 regulatory sandbox program. The pilot will let agencies pay business promotion expenses with tokenized deposits instead of government purchasing cards on a limited basis. The trial is set for Sejong City, and the ministry said programmable conditions could improve oversight and lower fees.
