🇶🇦🇮🇷 Qatar–Iran Talks in New York: Push for De-escalation

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on September 25 on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly in New York.

According to Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, the two leaders discussed the latest regional developments, efforts to de-escalate tensions, and creating conditions conducive to dialogue, with the broader aim of strengthening regional security and stability.

The meeting comes as Qatar continues diplomatic efforts to facilitate communication between Iran and the United States amid the ongoing regional conflict. Earlier in the week, Qatar also hosted discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi concerning de-escalation and conditions for dialogue.
