Bitcoin exchange inflows jumped to roughly 49,000 BTC on June 30 — a reading seen only four other times in 2026, and one that has historically come before sharp moves, often to the downside. $BTC
CryptoQuant's weekly report, titled "Incoming Volatility?", flags the spike alongside Ethereum inflows above 1.25 million ETH and altcoin deposit transactions near 45,000 a day, the highest in two months. That combination is the same pattern that front-ran Bitcoin's slide from $82K in early May to below $58K in late June.
The detail that stands out most isn't the volume — it's the average deposit size, which doubled from 1 BTC to 2 BTC. As analyst Julio Moreno notes, that points to larger holders repositioning coins onto exchanges rather than retail noise. Yet Bitcoin is trading around $61,600, back above the $60K support the report calls the line in the sand, after bouncing from a 24-hour low near $59,520.
Why the disconnect? The report ties June's weakness to macro forces — capital rotating into semiconductors, U.S.-Iran tensions, Strategy trimming its stack — plus Mt. Gox moving 10,422 BTC ahead of an October repayment deadline and billions leaving spot Bitcoin ETFs. Thursday's bounce followed dovish Fed commentary, suggesting macro is driving price while on-chain flows trail behind.
If exchange inflows keep climbing while $60K holds, the setup could resolve either way — the report does not confirm a direction, only elevated volatility risk. If $60K breaks, the historical pattern may get its test.
Watch the $60K line and the average deposit size together — that pairing tells you more than either number alone.
