The fundamental vision for Android has always been rooted in an open ecosystem. However, Google is currently introducing a new barrier that stands between everyday consumers and independent software. While the requirement of developer verification might initially seem like a helpful security measure, it actually creates substantial complications. For hobbyists, independent developers, and open-source projects, this process ultimately results in added friction and a heavier reliance on Google's rules simply to distribute an app.
