Changpeng Zhao, born on September 10, 1977 in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, is a Chinese-Canadian entrepreneur and the founder of the cryptocurrency trading platform Binance.
After graduating from college, Changpeng Zhao worked at Bloomberg (Tradebook) as the head of the company's New Jersey, London and Tokyo teams. In 2005, Changpeng Zhao returned to China and founded Fusion Systems. Subsequently, he joined the team of the cryptocurrency wallet Blockchain.info and served as the chief technology officer of the trading platform OKCoin.
In 2017, after leaving OKCoin, Changpeng Zhao established Binance and served as CEO (CEO). The following year, Binance became the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, and Changpeng Zhao was also listed as the "richest man in cryptocurrency" by Forbes Magazine, and ranked third on the Forbes Digital Currency Rich List that year. In December 2021, Zhao Changpeng became the richest Chinese man with a net worth of US$94.1 billion.
