According to Golden Finance news, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) recently added a group of cryptocurrency wallets involved in the illegal fentanyl trade to the list of Specially Designated Nationals (SDN). Currently, six entities and their digital wallet addresses have been flagged by the government, including five individuals and one company, Valerian Labs. OFAC identified a total of 17 wallet addresses involving networks such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and Tron. Of these, the majority of illegal transactions on the latter two blockchains are received through stablecoins.
With the exception of Valerian Labs, all five individuals had their wallets hosted on the same centralized cryptocurrency exchange, and each of them received “hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of cryptocurrency.” The specific transactions involved have not been confirmed. The market should remain optimistic and pay attention to the development of the DeFi and BRC 20 fields.
