đš Crypto Wallet Scams: The Latest Trap You Must Avoid! đš
Scammers are getting sneakier by the day, and their latest ploy is targeting unsuspecting crypto enthusiastsâand even other scammers! Kaspersky reports that these fraudsters are running a sophisticated bait-and-switch scheme on YouTube.
The Scam Playbook: How It Works
1ïžâŁ Seed Phrase Bait đŁ
Scammers post fake comments on finance-related YouTube videos, claiming to share a seed phrase to a wallet loaded with crypto.
2ïžâŁ "I'm Just a Beginner" Act đ”ïžââïž
They pretend to be clueless, leaving messages like:
"I have USDT in this wallet but donât know how to transfer it. Can anyone help?"
3ïžâŁ The $8,000 Crypto Trap đž
When someone uses the shared seed phrase, they see a wallet balance of $8,000 in USDT. But hereâs the catch: the wallet is a multisignature wallet, and transactions require multiple approvals.
4ïžâŁ The TRX Shortage Ruse â ïž
The scammer (or unsuspecting thief) discovers they need TRX tokens to cover transaction fees. To claim the $8,000, they send TRX from their own wallet.
5ïžâŁ Counter-Attack Setup đȘ€
As soon as the TRX is sent, the tokens are redirected to another wallet controlled by the scammer. The thief is left empty-handed, and the original scammer wins again.
How to Protect Yourself
