According to CryptoPotato, Lisa R. Zornberg, an American lawyer who represented Ripple Labs in the lawsuit against the U.S. SEC, is applying to the court to withdraw from the lawsuit after being appointed as the chief legal counsel of New York State.
Ripple asked the court to approve Zornberg’s request as she will no longer have any relationship with the US law firm Debevoise & Plimpton LLP from July 31, 2023.
Ripple pointed out that other lawyers such as Andrew J. Ceresney, Erol N. Gulay and Christopher S. Ford of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP will continue to serve as legal representatives, and Zornberg's withdrawal will not affect them or the interests of the company.
If the motion is granted, Zornberg would become the fourth attorney to withdraw as the case nears its conclusion. The court recently granted attorneys Anna R. Gressel, Clayton J. Masterman, and Kylie Chiseul Kim’s motions to withdraw because they are no longer associated with the law firm representing Ripple.
