If you’re in the UK and still depositing money into HTX or opening an account, take note—this route has been shut down.

On October 29, the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) announced that it had reached a settlement in the High Court with Huobi Global S.A. over crypto promotions by HTX (formerly Huobi) targeting UK consumers, and obtained undertakings prohibiting certain conduct. Here are a few points that directly affect ordinary users 👇

🔹 Can you still use it? The FCA explicitly said HTX is no longer active in the UK market—UK users can no longer deposit funds, and new users cannot register. The platform must not proactively contact or solicit UK consumers.

🔹 What if you still have crypto there? HTX had already announced its UK exit arrangements earlier (around October 16). Accounts identified as UK-based generally cannot deposit or trade. Eligible individual users can ask customer support for a one-off 48-hour withdrawal window. Once approved, they must withdraw their remaining assets themselves during that window, after which their accounts will be closed.

🔹 How long does the ban last, and what does it cover? The undertakings recorded by the High Court require HTX not to knowingly make financial promotions to UK consumers that breach Section 21 of the Financial Services and Markets Act, including through websites, apps, social media, or other channels. The undertakings remain in effect until October 21, 2031.

🔹 One more thing to be clear about: The settlement terms are confidential and do not constitute an admission by HTX / Huobi Global of wrongdoing or liability. This is the FCA’s first enforcement case targeting financial promotions by a crypto company (proceedings brought in October 2025, made public in February 2026).

Put simply: if you’re in the UK, or opened an HTX account using UK identity details, don’t count on being able to “make one more deposit.” First check whether you can access your account and whether you need to use that 48-hour withdrawal window to retrieve your remaining assets. An overseas platform isn’t beyond the reach of UK law.
