Didn’t expect BTC to get pushed back down less than a day after breaking above $83,000 📉
Yesterday, the price briefly touched around $83,200, but met clear selling pressure at the $83,000 mark. This morning, it pulled back to the $81,600–$82,000 range.
Things look a little awkward here, with several levels converging:
🔹 The 50-day moving average is around $82,344 and the 200-day moving average is around $83,038, putting the price right between them
🔹 Short-term support is at $81,500, with stronger support further down around $79,500
🔹 The first resistance zone above is $83,000–$83,500, with major resistance at $87,000
🔹 Open interest in futures rose to around $38.7 billion during the rally, then fell back to about $38.2 billion after the pullback, suggesting leveraged traders who chased the move didn’t stick around
Interest rates are putting more pressure on prices. U.S. stocks rebounded on Monday, but crypto didn’t follow. The 10-year Treasury yield climbed to 5.14%, as the market worries that high rates could persist for longer.
Put simply, if BTC can’t hold above $83,000, it’ll probably keep swinging between $81,500 and $83,500. A break below $81,500 could mean a retest of levels below $80,000.
Do you think it’ll break above $83,500 first, or retest $80,000 first? 👇
