The U.S. spot ETF flow data for last week just came out, and this time, the biggest outflows weren’t from Bitcoin—they were from Ethereum 📉
The week of October 12–16:
🔹 Ethereum spot ETFs: net outflows of about $320 million
🔹 Bitcoin spot ETFs: net outflows of about $229 million, with BlackRock’s IBIT alone seeing outflows of about $166 million
🔹 Combined, the two saw about $549 million pulled out in one week
ETH ETFs are much smaller, yet their outflows surpassed those of BTC—suggesting that institutions were more eager to reduce their Ethereum exposure this week. ETF flows are often seen as a barometer of “slow money.” When funds keep flowing out, spot markets lose a steady source of buying pressure.
There’s just one thing to watch this week: Can ETH ETFs stem the outflows and turn positive again?
Do you think institutions are rebalancing to avoid risk, or keeping powder dry to buy the next dip?
