Didn't expect it, but another veteran wallet is about to “turn off the lights”: the Cobo Wallet App will stop operating on December 1 🛑
Launched in 2017 by the team behind F2Pool, this wallet was the first crypto wallet for many long-time users. Here are the key dates from the official announcement:
🔹 Transfer all your assets out by 23:59 on November 30 (Beijing time)
🔹 The app will officially stop operating at 00:00 on December 1
🔹 Assets not transferred out by the deadline will incur a monthly management fee of 2% of the balance, with a minimum charge equivalent to US$100 per month. Balances below US$100 will be entirely depleted in a single charge
🔹 Reports say the first fee will be charged on January 1, 2027
It’s worth noting that only the personal wallet app is shutting down. Cobo says its other businesses, such as institutional custody, will continue operating as usual. The app stopped accepting new users back in 2021.
If you’re still using it, remember to do two things: first, transfer your coins out as soon as possible; second, check any Cobo deposit addresses or withdrawal whitelists linked to platforms such as exchanges and mining pools, and update them in time to avoid sending coins to a wallet that’s about to shut down.
There’s already a long list of projects that have shut down or scaled back this year. Now it’s the turn of a “veteran wallet.” When your assets aren’t in your own hands, the rules can change at any time. How long has it been since you last opened a wallet or platform you still have?
