Just now, Argentina’s “crypto dollar” broke 1,600 pesos again 🇦🇷

Locals buying 1 USDT on the P2P market now have to pay roughly this much:
🔹 The median buy quote on Binance P2P is about 1,612.6 pesos
🔹 The official dollar reference rate is about 1,512.8 pesos. The USDT premium has widened from around 5.66% on October 11 to about 6.6%, its highest level in two months
🔹 On the same day, the “blue dollar” on the street was around 1,545 pesos. The on-chain dollar is actually more expensive than cash dollars

The trigger was a recent comment by Argentina’s president that people might try to attack the exchange rate and spark a bank run in 2027. Once the news broke, many people’s first reaction wasn’t to exchange pesos for cash dollars, but to convert them directly into stablecoins.

Put simply, in countries with high inflation, USDT is no longer just a trading tool—it’s a “dollar deposit you can transfer out at any time.” The higher the premium, the less confidence people have in their local currency.

Which country do you think stablecoins will truly replace its local currency in first?
