Europe has brought $USDC under “bank-level” regulation 🏛️

The European Banking Authority (EBA) has officially designated Circle’s $USDC as the first “significant e-money token” under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).

There are currently around 45 e-money tokens registered in the EU, and USDC is the first to cross the “significant” threshold.

Starting November 12, it will face dual oversight:
1️⃣ The EBA will directly supervise reserves, own funds, liquidity, and redemption and recovery plans
2️⃣ France’s ACPR will continue to oversee corporate governance, holdings, and conduct compliance

In Europe, stablecoins have officially moved from “trading tools” to “assets of systemic importance.” For $USDC , this is both a tight regulatory leash and a ticket for institutions to enter the market.

Do you think tighter regulation will help institutions embrace USDC faster, or push market share toward other stablecoins? Share your thoughts in the comments 👇
