Investors are discussing why BCH's price suddenly surged?

Recently, the price of Bitcoin Cash (BCH) has surged significantly, attracting widespread attention from investors. At the end of June, the price of BCH was around $94 (approximately 686 RMB), but it quickly broke through $290 (approximately 2,118 RMB) in a short period, setting the highest increase among many established digital assets.

This article will delve into the reasons for this surge and analyze the future trends of Bitcoin Cash.

Overview of the Bitcoin Cash Project

Bitcoin Cash was born on August 1, 2017, through a hard fork from the Bitcoin blockchain. At that time, Bitcoin was implementing a software upgrade called SegWit (Segregated Witness) to detach digital signature data from blocks to optimize storage capacity.

Large mining pools opposing SegWit, such as Bitmain and ViaBTC, independently initiated the Bitcoin Cash project. Bitmain's well-known CEO Wu Jihan played a key role in this fork.

Bitcoin Cash retains the Proof of Work (PoW) mechanism while increasing the block size to 8MB, enabling faster and cheaper transaction processing. With these features, BCH once became the fourth largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. However, with the rise of emerging projects, it has now fallen to about 14th place.

It is worth noting that users who held Bitcoin at that time received BCH at a 1:1 ratio during the fork. During the bull market in 2017, BCH's price exceeded $3,650 (approximately 26,675 RMB), but has gradually declined since then, at one point dropping below $70 (approximately 512 RMB). Although it subsequently experienced hard forks such as Bitcoin SV and Bitcoin ABC (now eCash), the market response has been relatively limited.

Key factors driving the surge in BCH

The main catalyst for the significant rise in BCH's price is its listing on the EDX Markets (EDXM) exchange. EDXM is a new trading platform initiated by several major financial institutions on Wall Street in the United States.

Since the collapse of FTX, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has strengthened regulation and filed a lawsuit against Binance. In response, EDXM has established a trading platform backed by traditional financial institutions that meets compliance requirements.

Currently, EDXM only supports trading of four cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash. Since Bitcoin and Ethereum are already high market cap assets with limited speculation space, and Litecoin faces risks due to delisting from certain exchanges, BCH has thus become a more attractive option.

Advantages and Future Potential of Bitcoin Cash

Bitcoin Cash has a maximum supply of 21 million coins, making it scarce. Additionally, it is not classified as a security token and can be freely traded. Compared to Bitcoin, BCH offers faster transaction speeds and lower fees, giving it a competitive edge.

Although it is uncertain whether BCH can return to its peak, positive news such as the listing on EDXM is expected to bring more attention. Investment strategies still need to be adjusted based on subsequent price trends and global market sentiment.
