Binance has just announced an update to the collateral ratios for several assets under the Portfolio Margin program.

The update will take effect on March 28, 2025, at 06:00 (UTC) and is expected to last for one hour. The changes will affect the Unified Maintenance Margin Ratio (uniMMR), requiring users to closely monitor their accounts to avoid the possibility of liquidation.

According to an official statement released on March 24, 2025, the collateral ratios for six cryptocurrencies will be reduced. Curve DAO Token (CRV) and Uniswap (UNI) will see their collateral ratios decrease from 85% to 80%, while Algorand (ALGO) will drop from 85% to 75%. Kusama (KSM) will decrease from 80% to 70%, Tezos (XTZ) from 75% to 60%, and eCash (XEC) from 70% to 55%.

The collateral ratio determines the contribution level of an asset to the user's maintenance margin. Lowering these ratios means that these assets will provide less support in Portfolio Margin accounts, impacting uniMMR and increasing the risk of liquidation if a trader's margin falls below the required level. Binance has encouraged users holding these assets to closely monitor their accounts to manage risk.

These adjustments are part of a series of changes that Binance has introduced in recent weeks. On March 21, 2025, the exchange announced an update to the Fiat Liquidity Provider Program, introducing a new qualifying tier for the EUR market and adjusting the Maker Fee Rebate Rate to enhance liquidity incentives. On March 19, 2025, Binance also introduced two new features to its margin trading platform, enhancing user control over risk management strategies.

In addition, the cryptocurrency exchange has launched a 'Vote to Delist' trial run operated by the community from March 21 to March 27, 2025, allowing verified users with at least 0.01 BNB to vote on which tokens to remove from the platform. While user votes will be considered, Binance will make the final delisting decision based on factors such as project development, trading volume, regulatory compliance, and ethical conduct.
