Cross-chain infrastructure alone isn’t enough anymore. LayerZero has put the date in writing: Zero mainnet and lzATLAS will launch together on November 30.
This isn’t another vague “around the end of the year” launch window. On October 20, @LayerZero_Core started the countdown: Zero is its own blockchain, while lzATLAS is the first application built on it. According to the official announcement, Open ATLAS will launch first, connecting to more than a dozen trading venues from day one. It won’t have a retail-facing front end of its own; instead, it’s a “headless engine” providing matching, clearing, and settlement for others.
The numbers they’re putting forward are ambitious: Zero is targeting around 2 million transactions per second; lzATLAS lists an initial capacity of 200,000 transactions per second, with sub-millisecond latency in tests. The fee model is more straightforward: under Open ATLAS, 75% of the trading fees left after venue rebates are used to buy and burn $ZRO . Whether that actually drives meaningful burns ultimately depends on real trading activity—not on how many venues have integrated.
