Bitcoin's price experienced a relatively quiet weekend before jumping to just over $71,000, only to be pushed down by a few thousand dollars. Most altcoins, including SHIB, UNI, ADA, and AVAX, are also in the red on a daily scale. Last week, Bitcoin reached a 15-day high of just under $72,000 before bears halted the upward momentum, causing the price to drop back to under $68,000. The cryptocurrency now stands below $70,000, with its market capitalization slipping further away from the $1.4 trillion mark.

In contrast, Bitcoin Cash (BCH) has defied market sentiment with a 37% weekly surge, possibly driven by the hype surrounding its upcoming halving. BCH is up by more than 13% in the past 24 hours and now trades above $660. Other larger-cap altcoins, such as APT, ICP, TON, and LTC, are also in the green, albeit in a more modest fashion. The total crypto market cap has shed about $40 billion overnight and is down to $2.760 trillion.
