Blockchain teams Polygon Labs and StarkWare have teamed up to create a new type of cryptographic proof called "Circle STARKs" that aims to increase transaction speed and reduce costs. This technology is hailed as a breakthrough in zero-knowledge Rollup technology, helping to create auxiliary Layer 2 networks and improve the scalability and efficiency of the blockchain. It is reported that the new Circle STARK proof will accelerate the Rollup proof process, and its finalization speed will be much faster than the current STARK proof.
Polygon co-founder Brendan Farmer said the new proof system Plonky3 will come into play and is expected to achieve 7 to 10 times improvements. The move will lower transaction fees for users and enable proof-reading for a wider variety of applications. Although StarkWare and Polygon Labs compete with each other in the Ethereum scaling space, the cooperation between the two parties is considered an important milestone. The release date of Circle STARKs has not yet been determined.
