Trump Threatens 50% Tariff On Canadian Aircraft, Aviation Trade Tensions Escalates
Trump has just ignited a new trade tensions with the northern neighbor, issuing a tough ultimatum regarding an aviation certification dispute between the two countries.
🔹 On social media, Trump accused Canada of wrongly and illegally refusing to certify US Gulfstream aircraft. He claimed this process effectively acts as a ban on selling Gulfstream products in the Canadian market.
🔸 In response, Trump announced he would revoke certification for the Bombardier Global Express and all other Canadian manufactured aircraft. Notably, if the issue is not remedied immediately, the US will impose a 50% tariff on all aircraft imports from Canada.
This move follows Trump's declaration of a national emergency and tariffs on countries supplying oil to Cuba, highlighting the US administration's extremely aggressive trade policy in 2026.
