🔹In a procedural vote on Jan 29, the Senate failed to reach the necessary 60 votes, result 55–45 to pass the budget bill previously approved by the House. All Democratic Senators and some Republicans voted against it, putting funding for several federal departments at risk of expiring on Jan 30.

🔸 The crux of the crisis lies in funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Democrats are determined to veto any bill funding the DHS under current conditions. Majority Leader John Thune is considering separating this funding to salvage the situation.

With the countdown clock ticking down to hours, will Washington reach a last minute deal, or will financial markets face the bad news of a partial government shutdown?
