Just as June has barely passed, the crypto community has once again been presented with a “hacker report card.”
In just one month, there were 40 major security incidents, with a total of approximately $75.87 million stolen. Although this is down 7% compared with May, it doesn’t mean hackers have stopped—it means they’ve become more professional and more covert.
The harshest blow came from Humanity Protocol, which lost about $31 million in a single incident, making it the largest security event of June.
Even more concerning is that after the attackers succeeded, they quickly used multiple public chains—such as BTC, Solana, Hyperliquid, and BNB Chain—to transfer, split, and launder the funds. On-chain data shows that this portion of the funds has even been mixed with the previously stolen assets from Kelp DAO. It’s not out of the question that the same group of hackers is behind the ongoing activity.
In addition, in June several projects were targeted one after another:
🔹 Syscoin Bridge: lost $10 million
🔹 JaredFromSubway.eth MEV Bot: lost $7.5 million
🔹 Secret Network: lost $4.67 million
🔹 Aztec Bridge + Aztec Connect: total losses of about $4 million
🔹 Polymarket users: lost $3 million
🔹 SecondFi, TESSERA, Taiko Bridge, Tokenof Power, Raydium, LABUBU/OLPC, and other projects were also hit to varying degrees.
This data tells us a brutal truth:
In a bull market, the biggest adversary is not necessarily the crash—it’s security risk.
Hackers won’t take a break just because the market is quiet; they’re online 24/7. But many investors are still carelessly signing approvals, clicking links at random, and placing assets in high-risk protocols.
Making money depends on knowledge; protecting profits depends on security.
Over the coming months, as on-chain funds continue to flow back, security incidents will very likely keep happening frequently. Instead of waiting until after your assets are stolen and regretting it, it’s better to check wallet permissions now, diversify where you store assets, and improve your security awareness.
