Kristin Johnson, a member of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), will step down on September 3, leaving the agency with just one commissioner instead of the usual five. She was the only Democrat on the panel.

Former commissioner Brian Quintenz has been nominated to lead, but his appointment is still pending, and three other seats remain empty.
