Accusations have been made against a former OpenSea employee for allegedly aiding the infamous AnubisDAO rug pull in 2021, although some commentators have raised doubts.
OpenSea, the nonfungible token (NFT) platform, has stated that it is unaware of any evidence indicating the involvement of a former employee, Kevin Pawlak, in the AnubisDAO rug pull following new accusations on social media.
On October 6, a thread on X (formerly Twitter) by the anonymous account NFT Ethics, tagged OpenSea and asked for a response to accusations linking Kevin Pawlak to the pseudonymous identity "0xSisyphus," alleging involvement in "various dubious business dealings."
Both NFT Ethics and the blockchain analytics account Lookonchain asserted that 0xSisyphus, and consequently Pawlak, played a significant role in promoting the AnubisDAO project to investors shortly before the project's transfer of the newly raised funds to a series of external wallets.
The thread by NFT Ethics sought to elucidate that Pawlak’s purported involvement in the AnubisDAO rug pull was premeditated with other developers and that the proceeds were laundered through the memecoin Pepe ($PEPE ).
In October 2021, AnubisDAO garnered 13,556 Ether, valued at $60 million at the time, from crypto investors.
However, approximately 20 hours later, the funds were routed to various wallet addresses, resulting in an immediate loss for the investors.
