🇺🇸 Donald Trump signed a proclamation extending restrictions on foreign nationals entering the United States in order to protect national security.
The main provisions of the document are as follows:
— Full restrictions and limits on entry for citizens from the original 12 high-risk countries remain in place: Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.
— Full restrictions and limits on entry for citizens of five additional countries have been introduced based on recent analysis: Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan, and Syria, as well as individuals with travel documents issued by the Palestinian Authority.
— Full restrictions and limits have been imposed on the entry of citizens of two countries previously subject to partial restrictions: Laos and Sierra Leone.
— Partial restrictions continue for citizens of four of the seven original high-risk countries: Burundi, Cuba, Togo, and Venezuela.
— As Turkmenistan has cooperated productively with the United States and shown significant progress since the previous Proclamation, the new Proclamation lifts the ban on its nonimmigrant visas while maintaining the suspension of entry for Turkmen citizens as immigrants.
— Partial restrictions and limits on entry have been imposed on citizens of 15 other countries: Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, Dominica, Gabon, Gambia, Malawi, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Tonga, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
— The proclamation includes exceptions for lawful permanent residents, holders of valid visas, certain categories of visas such as athletes and diplomats, and individuals whose entry is in the national interest of the United States.
