#SouthKoreaPlans11%TaxOnUSStockPerpetualFutures $SSNLF and $SKHY just put up some of the strongest Q3 profits the memory industry has ever seen. Stocks still got sold. Record earnings, prices still falling. The market is cutting the multiple, not the earnings power. Goldman Sachs Asia strategist Timothy Moe cut his 12-month KOSPI target from 12,000 to 9,000 last week, a 25% cut. He also said the market is pricing in an extremely negative fundamental outlook. The cut was mostly a more conservative valuation assumption. Korean stocks are now trading at just over 4x forward earnings, below 5x for the first time on a market this size. Semiconductor prices are already discounting something like a 65% drop in 2027 industry earnings. Even on Goldman’s new target, there’s still about 62% upside to 9,000. To me, 4x looks more like fear than a normal valuation. AI memory went from one of the best picks-and-shovels to a risk the market wants to avoid. Companies can keep setting profit records while the multiple gets cut in half. Right now price is being driven more by fear than by the latest numbers. I still like the long-term memory story. Just wouldn’t rush to catch the bottom.
